Citing Articles
General
format |

As with books, this format applies to many different types of articles. the type of publication often influences what information is included.
Some things to pay attention to:
- Publication type: scholarly journal, magazine, or newspaper
- Pagination of Publication
- continuous for the entire volume: e.g. Volume 1, Issue 1-Volume 1, Issue 4: pp. 1-865
- new pages for each issue: e.g. Volume 1, Issue 1: pp. 1-103; Volume 1, Issue 4: pp. 1-127
- sections: e.g. A1, D6
- Number of authors: e.g. one author, two or more authors, editor
- Electronic format: this requires including the electronic location of the article, usually a URL as well as the date accessed. Full-text from an academic database requires inclusion of the database name and location.
The Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) is an excellent resource for learning how to cite sources within a paper or presentation as well as for formatting a bibliography.
