The Purdue University Libraries has many mechanisms for seeking information sources on a particular topic. Different types of information require different access tools. Most academic web-based search tools can be categorized into one of three types: online catalog, academic database, or federated search, called Megasearch here at Purdue.
In this module, you will learn how to:
- Retrieve record information via printing, saving, or e-mailing.
- Interpret a record for an article or book.
- Determine which search tool is appropriate for the type of information being sought.
- Identify interface features of three search tools: library catalog, academic databases, and megasearch.
