More information about the Soil Surveys:
As new soil surveys are received, records for them are are entered into a locally-maintained database that is searchable, above. Please note that the current status of a Soil Survey (whether it is checked out, or not) is not reflected in this database. To determine if the Soil Survey for a particular county is checked out, please consult the Catalog record for the Soil Surveys.
Usually each county has it's own soil survey. However sometimes several counties are published together in a Soil Survey. To faciliate access to these Surveys, we have created cross-references ('see...' references).
Soil surveys may be checked out for three weeks. If you require an Indiana Soil Survey for field work, you might consider contacting the Purdue
University Agronomy Department, which is a repository of the current Indiana soil surveys. The Department will give you a copy if you are an Indiana resident.
